Happy Valentines Day - Gift from Anthro

This is what we have all been waiting for and we did not even know it!  Brides, brides to be & hopeless romantics...Anthropologie has launched a Wedding line.  Check it out....

BHLDN Anthropologie Wedding
To remind us all of the importance of tradition they included beautiful old (real!) wedding photos.

The saying, "Something old, something new, something borrowed and something blue" is a popular rhyme that has been used since Victorian times. The "something old" represents the bond to the bride's family and her old life; "something new" represents the couple's new life together and their future hope for happiness, prosperity and success; "something borrowed" from a happily married woman is meant to impart similar happiness to the bride; and "something blue" represents fidelity and constancy.

Congrats Sarah!

My best friend just launched a website for her new Art Company- www.SKSArtCompany.com.   I am obsessed with her "coming soon"page so I know that good things are to come!  xoxo

Products that are worth it...

Living in the harsh mountain climate has taught me (even if it was just last year) the importance of a good moisturizer.  I was introduce to the most amazing product line...Natura Bisse.  Turns out women all over Spain & South America have been using this sense the 70's.  I mean, who doesn't want to look like the beautiful women of Barcelona.  This product is priced reasonably and packs the benefit of La Mer and other high end products.  Try it!

OK, at first we thought this looked like a gimmick or just a really well packaged stocking stuffer...but we were wrong!  This product will brighten your face, plump your lips & give you an instant makeover.  After one use you will be hooked to this natural, sugar exfoliate.  Check out their products at Sara Happ Lip Scrub.

roasted vegetable pasta

This recipe is so easy and is great for dinner or to take to work for lunch. You can find the recipe here.

4 cups cauliflower florets (1 head)
4 cups 1-in.-cubed butternut squash *I use a sweet potatoes instead:)
1 red onion, coarsely chopped
2 medium red peppers, coarsely chopped
2 Tbsp olive oil
1 Tbsp each minced garlic and chopped fresh sage
1/4 tsp pepper
1 box (16 oz) pasta *I recommend Campanelle shaped pasta.
1 bag (9 oz) baby spinach
1/4 cup grated Parmesan

Adjust oven racks to divide oven into thirds. Heat oven to 450ºF. Line 2 rimmed baking sheet with foil; coat with nonstick cooking spray.

Bring a large pot of lightly salted water to boil.

Toss cauliflower, squash, red onion and red peppers with oil, garlic, sage and pepper. Divide vegetables onto the baking sheets. Roast 30 minutes, switching position of pans once, until vegetables are tender.

Meanwhile, cook pasta in boiling water as package directs, reserving 1 cup pasta cooking water. Stir spinach into pot before draining pasta. Return pasta to pot. Toss with vegetables, Parmesan and reserved cooking water.

Using the last cup of pasta water is genius!

    1. happy 30th!

stripes - why do we love them?

Quoted from EyeWeekly.com " It was Coco Chanel, but of course, who changed everything. Legend has it she borrowed a blue-and-white, thinly striped sweater — the Breton, established in 1858 by the French navy — from her lover, tailored it to herself, et voila!"

      Candlesticks

Were candle sticks ever just meant for table decor?  I found these in Boulder,Co this weekend and could not put them down.  They could be shined up a little but I think they look better with different shades of metal.  They are heavy and look beautiful with or with-out candles in them.

      Iowa...is calling my name

One of my best friends and I ended up taking a much needed road trip from Vail to Chicago.  On the way we fell in love with IOWA!  Only random because that is where my dad is from and my whole life we dreaded going there and never appreciated the beauty.  Walnut, Iowa is a hidden gem for antique shopping!  Who wants to have a farm wedding!!!!

      DYI Infinity Scarf

DYI - Revamp last years scarves for fall.  All you'll need is a scarf that has some sort of strings (tassels) at the end.

Step 1: Fold the scarf in half.

Step 2: Line up the tassels and tie each one to the matching one on the other side.

Step 3: Vola! You have a new infinity scarf.
It will change the way the scarf sits and will bring some old ones back to life.

      First day of fall

      via Design, Decor Blog

I love this fall looking kitchen!  It inspired me to go take pictures of the beautiful trees here in Vail.  This tree is a great reminder that you don't have to be perfect to stand out...it is quite the opposite.
